The intimate partner violence committed by women towards men is a phenomenon that in many contexts is not considered as existing, important, much less a social problem. This circumstance has caused several difficulties in its study. For this reason, a systematic bibliographic re­view is presented in which twelve theoretical or systematic reviews, published between 2001 and 2018, was obtai­ned through databases such as Google Scholar, EBSCO, SCOPUS, Web of Science, Science Direct, Wiley and Springer Link. The objective has been to analyze the socio­cultural factors associated with the violence towards man, resources, repercussions and reasons for the permanence of the victims in the relationship. Results highlighted the existence and type of violence suffered by men, mostly of a psychological nature; the role played by the idea of mas­culinity in men that makes it difficult to recognize that they are victims of violence; as well as the lack of resources for the attention of these men. The scientific and aca­demic literature on the subject still remains limited and practically non-existent in regions such as Latin America. Therefore, it would be pertinent to conduct more research on the victimization of men in heterosexual couples to ob­tain a more complete and comprehensive portrait of the phenomenon of interpersonal violence in the heterosexual couple.
